Five years after its launch, sales for Grand Theft Auto V continues to be strong while 2018 has been one of its best years.

During a conference call, Take-Two Interactive Software revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has sold 10 million units in 2018, This brings the total number of units sold to 95 million, a major jump from the 85 million as reported back in late 2017.

According to Jeff Grubb of VentureBeats, the game could hit the 100 million sales mark before 2019. This is is based on interest from new gamers that could be generated following the release of the Premium Online Edition.

Grand Theft Auto V was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late 2013 followed by a Next-Gen release in 2014 and a PC release in 2015. The story follows Michael Townley, Trevor Philips and Franklin Clinton who are seeking the American Dream in a post-2008 crash society.

At the time of launch, it was the fastest selling media title of all time after hitting the $1 billion mark in three days. As of 2018; the only other work of media to come close would be Marvel’s The Avengers: Infinity War, having hit the $1 billion mark in 11 days. Grand Theft Auto V is currently one of the best selling games of all time, surpassed only by Minecraft and Tetris.
