After a long wait and months of anticipation, Capcom has officially unveiled the first trailer for the Resident Evil 2 remake during E3 2018.

Back in 2015, Capcom announced that a remake of was in the work following a servy taken on Facebook. Since that announcement; there had been no news regarding its progress or development until now.

Built from the ground up, Resident Evil 2 will have players once again take on the role of Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they try to survive a night in Raccoon City during the T-Virus outbreak. Like with the original game, both characters have their own separately playable campaigns which will allow gamers to see the story from both characters perspective.

The remake will be developed using the RE Engine (the same used for Resident Evil 7) which will add more details to the environment and the zombies. Many of the setting will be redesigned and new puzzles will be included.

Capcom has also announced that Resident Evil 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on January 25, 2019. There is no word regarding a possible release for the Nintendo Switch at the moment.

The original Resident Evil 2 was the second game in the horror series and has been hailed as the one of the greatest horror games of all time. The game was first released in 1998 for the PlayStation then ported over to the PC, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast.
