2016 may have been a shitty year for humanity but it was a great year for gaming. It’s a year that would be defined by the birth of VR, the release of several highly anticipated titles and Electronic Arts redeeming itself.
As the year comes to an end, its time to look back at the 10 best games of 2016.
10. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
The Uncharted-series has finally arrived on the PS4 and this tittle improves the gameplay mechanics while delivering an unforgettable story. Nathan Drake returns to the world of fortune hunting after he reunites with his older brother Sam to locate Captain Henry Avery’s lost treasure.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered restores one of the most iconic shooters to the standards of the Eight-Generation consoles while introducing this classic to a new generation of gamers.
8. XCOM 2
XCOM 2 demonstrates that the reboot was not a fluke as iconic series has been reborn for a new era of gaming. Set 20 years after the first game, X-COM was defeated by the invaders and now has formed a resistance movement.
7. Mafia III
Mafia III breaks from the tradition of its predecessors by having gamers survive the criminal world as an African-American in the Deep South during the final years of the Jim Crow era. This break allows it to tell a story that examines a dark chapter in American history while also connecting it to the social issues of today.
6. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Two years after the Aug Incident, humanity has entered into an era of mechanical apartheid. Jensen is now a special agent with Interpol trying to shutdown a terrorist organization.

4. Final Fantasy XV
The most iconic RPG series of all time makes a comeback in this new installment that raises the bar for the genre. The world of Eos has fallen in turmoil when the Niflheim Empire invades the Kingdom of Lucis. Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum must work with his friends to save his kingdom.
Once upon a time, the original Doom defined the concept of the shooter and it set the standards for the genre back in the 90’s. In a market dominated by Call of Duty-shooters, John Carmack along with the team at id Software shows the industry how you make a f***ing shooter. No fancy gimmicks or complicated stories, just take on the role of Doomguy and kill every demon in sight.
The first original IP from Blizzard in 17 years, Overwatch is a multiplayer shooter that has players work in teams with their unique characters to complete objectives and overcome challenges. Don’t brush this off as a Team Fortress 2 knock-off as it has so much to offer in terms of gameplay and memorable characters.
1. Dark Souls III
Dark Souls III continues the legacy of its predecessors by testing the players skills and determination. The First Flame is dying and its up to the player to preserve it before the world succumb to the Age of Darkness. Honorable Mention | Fallout 4: Season Pass
They are not full title releases so they could not be included on the list. It however does deserve some recognizable because Bethesda has added more to a title that is already rich in content and lore.
Honorable Mention | Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is already one of the most highly anticipated games of 2017 for once again redefining the horror genre and taking the series back to its roots.
